PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Scott Greenspan is an AV rated, seasoned commercial, insurance coverage and real estate litigator and counselor with 20 years of litigation and trial experience in high-stakes, large cases. After practicing as an equity partner at an AMLAW 250 law firm for many years, Scott joined our Garden City office in 2015 with a determination to pair his big firm litigation and trial skills with providing boutique firm attention and service.

Scott is well-known in the legal community for being a tenacious litigator who is dedicated to outworking his opponents and achieving the best results for his clients. Scott has litigated large, bet-the-company cases in courts all over the country (more than 20 states). Scott’s cases have involved the following areas: (1) commercial litigation; (2) insurance coverage litigation and counseling on behalf of both insurers and policyholders involving virtually every major line of insurance policies; (3) real estate litigation; (4) partnership and business litigation; (5) professional liability litigation; (6) products liability litigation; (7) defamation litigation; (8) First Amendment and Constitutional litigation; and (9) intellectual property litigation.

In his best known victory – one of the biggest defense verdicts of the year – he served as lead trial counsel and defended a major insurance carrier in a two month trial, winning a defense verdict against a $100 million claim. In another case involving the breach of a franchise agreement, he represented a Central American restaurant franchisee and won a decisive victory at an international arbitration against the world’s largest franchisor, soundly defeating one of the top five large law firms in New York City. In still another case, he defended a major geotechnical engineering firm in a professional liability action arising from the largest retaining wall collapse in New York City, ultimately achieving a very favorable settlement that saved his client’s business.

Scott is renowned for his creativity in settling cases that others claimed were not settleable. As such, he firmly believes that the best way to achieve the most favorable results for his litigation clients is to prepare every case as if it were going to trial.
